Ron Paul on Meet the Press
December 24, 2007 – 2:50 am by JohnLew Rockwell wrote a pretty good summary of Tim Russert’s interview with Ron Paul yesterday. My verdict on the interview was that Dr. Paul did pretty well, and the content of what he said was about as good as it could have been, but he seemed a little…defensive, unsure, unsmooth. That’s not usually like him. Russert stayed away from two of his biggest selling points, the Federal Reserve and the Bush regime wars. Russert was pretty hard on him, becuase he isn’t an establishment favorite, but Russert, I’ve thought, isn’t usually as tough or insistent or prying as he could be to many guests, so I’ll give him credit for tossing Paul no softballs yesterday.
If Russert had given Dr. No the full hour interview he had originally planned, he wouldn’t have had to machine-gun questions at him and give him time for only non-detailed answers. Ron Paul thrives on the philosphical explanations and thorough research that go into this opinions and policy stances.
My grade: B or B+ for both Ron Paul and Tim Russert for this interview.
