Intel CEO at CES

Intel CEO Paul Otellini spoke today about the future of the internet at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It’s an interesting article, though it discusses what we basically already know: the future of the internet is personalization, context-awareness, mobility (as in iPhones etc.), and incessant connectivity. Obviously this future will require much smaller and more powerful processors that use less energy than current ones, which is where his company comes in. Money quote:

Our business model is one of very high risk: We dig a very big hole in the ground, spend three billion dollars to build a factory in it, which takes three years, to produce technology we haven’t invented yet, to run products we haven’t designed yet, for markets which don’t exist.

We do that two or three times a year.
