Ryan McMaken is a natural selection “skeptic”

So that’s what fundamentalist Catholic nutjobs are calling themselves these days. Crazy kids. Notice how he tries to preemptively deflect such “vilification” from himself, even though it happens to apply to him perfectly, though admittedly not to other skeptics such as Fred Reed. He concludes:

Beyond labeling everything they disagree with as superstition or religious extremism, the pundits who vilify critics of natural selection as creationists or religious nuts merely illustrate their own dogmatism about theories to which they have ascribed a devotion of religious proportions. When it comes to Darwin, they would do well to rely a little less on faith, and a little more on reason.

I should give him kudos for doing some research and at least knowing something about evolution and natural selection, but that is as far as I’ll go. He probably knows that the science of evolutionary biology is non-theistic, not atheistic—or, at least, it was until Creationists like himself tried to force religion into science classes—and his failure to acknowledge that makes him a liar.

Also, whenever any Creationist stresses that natural selection is “just a theory,” even if they come off as being as well versed as he is, bet your bottom dollar that they wouldn’t believe in the theory no matter how much irrefutable evidence existed, or continues to be discovered.

(Btw, Ryan, take a college science class and learn about the four other mechanisms of evolutionary change in addition to natural selection. Darwin first popularized and rigrorously examined the process of natural selection but none others, because they hadn’t been discovered. Subsequent generations of scientists, who didn’t worship Darwin as you suggest and weren’t afraid to alter or add to his theories, discovered, studied, and quantified them. Still are. If they all have no interest in truth or objectivity or discovery or adding to our knowledge of evolution, or if they believe that everything has been explained finally and without question, then what do all those evolutionary biologists do all day? Email each other back and forth about how much they hate God and religion?)
