Me and Captain Mal

With conservative-libertarian Ron Paul’s presidential bid failing to ever grow very strong, and his winning only ten percent or fewer of the votes in the first four states, and having people on the internet, on the radio, and in my imagination saying they were right not to support someone who has no chance of winning, I keep recalling that scene in the Firefly episode “Bushwhacked,” in which the Alliance officer says to Captain Reynolds, “Seems odd you’d name your ship after a battle you were on the wrong side of,” and Mal responds brilliantly but humbly, “May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.”
