Stocks before whore, everyone’s poor
March 27, 2008 – 10:09 pm by JohnThe March 17 Daily Show had a great couple of segments on the idiotic federal government and Federal Reserve and the recession the United States is in. A rerun of this ran tonight at 8:00, which is why I’m blagging about it now.
Talking about the $600 tax refund the State is graciously returning to some of its victims, they showed a clip of President Bush saying, “The purpose is to try to offset the loss of wealth if the value of your home has gone down.”
Stewart responds: “Six hundred dollars to offset the value of your home going down! I think that’ll work out great if your home is made out of plastic and located on Baltic Avenue.”
Funny, as usual, but, uh…hey, Jon: If $600 is too meager a sum to ameliorate the economic woes of the State-caused housing bubble and current recession, how much would be enough? How about all of our tax money? What could all those families do with $10,000 or $20,000 of their own money returned to them? How about…buy something they want with it? Instead of having it taken from them at the point of a gun and being forced to pay for things you think they should pay for?
Well, it’s funny, anyway:
